Delivered by MCI Consulting, part of MCI Group of Companies.

The payroll cycle and statutory requirements.

MCI Consulting runs payroll end to end. It computes salary and variable components, calculates and files statutory contributions, issues payslips and pays staff on the agreed date. Each cycle, you receive a reconciled payroll run together with the supporting calculations.

Singapore payroll carries obligations that are easily missed and difficult to correct later. MCI Consulting issues itemised payslips and written key employment terms within the periods the Employment Act requires, as part of each payroll run.

Common questions

What does a payroll cycle include?

Each cycle includes computation of salary and variable components, statutory contributions such as CPF and SDL where they apply, itemised payslips, disbursement on the agreed date, and a reconciled report for your records.

When does an employee have to receive a payslip?

An employee must receive a payslip together with the salary, or within three working days of payment. Itemised payslips have been mandatory since April 2016 for employees covered by the Employment Act, and the items a payslip must show are prescribed by law.

Does MCI Consulting issue key employment terms for new hires?

Yes. Written key employment terms are required within 14 days of the first day of work where the contract runs for 14 days or more, so MCI Consulting issues them as part of onboarding.

How long do payroll records have to be kept?

Employers must keep payslip and employment records for current employees and retain them for a period after an employee leaves. MCI Consulting retains them for that period and can produce them on request.

Can MCI Consulting take over payroll partway through a year?

Yes. MCI Consulting configures the payroll and reconciles a parallel cycle against your previous one before going live, so the transfer is verified.

If MCI Consulting runs the payroll, who is the employer?

You remain the employer. Payroll is an administrative service, and your staff remain your employees. This differs from the MCI Outsourcing model, under which MCI Outsourcing is the employer and the staff are on its payroll.
